Team Online Freeroll Contest - May #1

Hello everyone!

I must admit, when I was writing my previous post asking you guys to send me any questions you would like to see answered in a Frequently Asked Questions section of my blog, I was hoping to get a bigger participation. I believe I got less than 10 questions total, which is very low comparing to the amount of private messages I have been getting lately! Maybe I've been doing too good of a job writing back to everyone and now all the questions have been answered! :P

Since I'm asking for your help, I thought I'd give a little something back to you. So for my next contest and a chance to win a ticket to May's Team Online Freeroll, I would like you to leave me a question that you would like to see answered in a FAQ. Let me specify that it needs to be poker-related. It doesn't need to have something to do with the game directly, you could ask me for example how I handle downswings, just don't ask stuff like "What's your favorite color?" or "What's the name of your dog?".

This contest will run for a week until Friday 11th 11:00 a.m. WET. I will choose one lucky winner at random (among valid entries). Don't forget to write your screen name after the question, so that I know who to credit the ticket to in case you win.

Μου κάνουν ερωτήσεις αρκετά συχνά, ειδικά από τότε που έγινα μέλος της PokerStars Team Online. Μερικές φορές το άτομο που έρχεται σ'επικοινωνία μαζί μου θα ξεκινήσει με κάπως έτσι "Μάλλον είναι ανόητη απορία, αλλά θα ήθελα να μάθω..." και μετά θα μου κάνει μια ερώτηση που μου έχει γίνει εκατό φορές στο παρελθόν. Εκεί που θέλω να καταλήξω είναι ότι αν εσύ αναρωτιέσαι για κάτι, τότε κατά πάσα πιθανότητα υπάρχουν κι άλλα άτομα που αναρωτιούνται για το ίδιο ακριβώς πράγμα.

Μέχρι τώρα απαντάω σε όλους γιατί πιστεύω ότι είναι σημαντικό να βοηθάω τους ανθρώπους που απευθύνονται σ'εμένα. Και θα συνεχίσω να κάνω το ίδιο και στο μέλλον. Έχω πάρει τόσο μεγάλη υποστήριξη από άλλους παίκτες από τότε που ξεκίνησα να γράφω αυτό το blog πριν από κάποια χρόνια, που με χαροποιεί ιδιαίτερα το να μπορώ κι εγώ να δώσω συμβουλές σε όποιον τις χρειάζεται. Παρόλα αυτά, νιώθω ότι μπορώ και καλύτερα. Πάρτε για παράδειγμα την ερώτηση που μου κάνουν πιο συχνά απ'όλες τις άλλες: "Τι κάνεις με όλα τα χρήματα $t που μαζεύεις;". Έχω δώσει την ίδια απάντηση τόσες μα τόσες φορές, που τώρα τελευταία περιορίζομαι σε μια σύντομη εξήγηση. Είναι περίεργο να μιλάς για το ίδιο θέμα ξανά και ξανά, ακόμα κι αν απευθύνεσαι σε διαφορετικά άτομα.

Σκεφτόμουν λοιπόν πως θα μπορούσα να βελτιστοποιήσω το χρόνο μου ενώ ταυτόχρονα δίνω λεπτομερείς απαντήσεις σε όλες τις απορίες σας. Γι'αυτό αποφάσισα να κάνω ένα post (ή και περισσότερα από ένα αν χρειαστεί) όπου θα απαντώ σε οποιαδήποτε απορία μπορεί να έχετε. Θα απαντήσω με την ησυχία μου όσο καλύτερα μπορώ και μετά αν κάποια στιγμή στο μέλλον κάποιος με ρωτήσει το ίδιο πράγμα, θα μπορώ να τον παραπέμψω στο συγκεκριμένο post. 

Αν έχετε κάποια απορία για οποιοδήποτε θέμα, τώρα είναι η καλύτερη στιγμή για να ρωτήσετε! Μπορεί να είναι κάτι που να σχετίζεται με πόκερ ή κάτι σχετικά μ'εμένα που θα θέλατε να μάθετε. Απλά αφήστε μου ένα σχόλιο κάτω από αυτό το post και όταν μαζέψω αρκετές ερωτήσεις θα κάνω ένα καινούριο post απαντώντας σε όλα. Ας ξεκινήσει λοιπόν η συλλογή ερωτήσεων!

Hello!

I get asked questions quite frequently, even more so since I joined PokerStars Team Online. Sometimes, the person contacting me will start with something like "This is probably a silly question, but I'd like to know..." and then they will ask me a question I've been asked a hundred times before. My point is, if you are wondering about something there are probably more people out there wondering about the exact same thing.

So far I have been answering to everyone cause I think it's important to help people reaching out to me. And I will continue to do so in the future. I've been getting so much support from other players since I started writing this blog years ago, that I'm more than happy to give advice to anyone that needs it. Yet I feel like I could do better. Take for example the question I get asked more often than any other: "What do you do with all that $t money?". Nowadays I give a short explanation cause after a certain point it feels weird to talk about the same thing over and over again, even if it's with different people.

I've been thinking about how I could optimize my time and give a more thorough answer to all of your questions. That's why I've decided to make a post (or more than one if necessary) where I answer to whatever questions you may have. I'll take my time and explain things in the best way I can, then if someone asks me the same thing in the future I can redirect them to that post.

If you've been wondering about something, now is the best time to ask! It could be poker-related or something about me that you'd like to know. Just leave a comment under this post and when I have enough questions I'll make a new post answering everything. Let my question collection begin!

Ανακεφαλαίωση Φεβρουαρίου

Ο Φεβρουάριος ήταν ένας μήνας με πολλά σκαμπανεβάσματα, πιο πολλά απ'όσα συναντάει κανείς σ'ένα τραινάκι του λούνα παρκ. Όπως περιέγραψα και σ'ένα προηγούμενο post μου, μέσα στον Φεβρουάριο είχα και την χειρότερή μου μέρα. Αν το λάβουμε αυτό υπόψιν, τότε είμαι πολύ χαρούμενη με το γεγονός ότι κατάφερα να το γυρίσω και να λήξω τον Φεβρουάριο με ένα μικρό κέρδος.

Επίσης, είμαι ευχαριστημένη με τον αριθμό τουρνουά που έπαιξα. Οπότε ναι, δεν έγινε και κάτι ιδιαίτερα συνταρακτικό μέσα στο Φεβρουάριο (αν εξαιρέσουμε το συνταρακτικό σοκ που έπαθα μ'εκείνο τον καταποντισμό, αλλά αυτό ήταν αρνητικό οπότε δε το μετράμε!). Παρόλα αυτά, ήταν ο μήνας μέσα στον οποίο ανακοινώθηκε ότι έγινα μέλος της PokerStars Team Online, οπότε θεωρώ τον Φεβρουάριο έναν εξαιρετικό μήνα, ακόμη κι αν το χρηματικό κέρδος ήταν μικρό.

Μπορεί να προσέξατε ότι υπάρχει κάτι δίπλα στο όνομά μου στο παραπάνω screenshot. Αυτό με φέρνει στο επόμενο θέμα μου... Τα αστέρια του Sharkscope! Τις προάλλες έκανα μια έρευνα για μένα στο Sharkope, δε θυμάμαι πάνω σε τι ακριβώς, όταν το είδα: ένα ασημένιο αστεράκι δίπλα στο ψευδώνυμό μου! Έκανα κλικ επάνω του και είδα με ακόμα μεγαλύτερη έκπληξη ότι είχα μπει στο top 20 του leaderboard για τα περισσότερα κέρδη μέσα στο 2014 για τα τουρνουά hypers μεταξύ 37 και 100 δολλαρίων!

Κι όχι μόνο ήμουν στους καλύτερους 20, αλλά ήμουν και στη θέση νούμερο 14! Εντάξει, αυτό ήταν φοβερό! Δυστυχώς, έχασα το αστεράκι μερικές μέρες αργότερα. Το leaderboard για τα περισσότερα κέρδη συνεχώς αυξάνεται γιατί υπάρχουν άτομα που κερδίζουν όλο και περισσότερα χρήματα. Εγώ είχα κανα δυο κακές μέρες, πράγμα που με έβγαλε εκτός top 20. Όμως ακόμη και η σύντομη διαμονή μου στους 20 καλύτερους ήταν κάτι το θετικό. Αν μη τι άλλο, έπεσαν στην αντίληψή μου τα leaderboards και τώρα παρακολουθώ πιο στενά το τι γίνεται. Ακόμα κι αν δεν είμαι πλέον στους top 20, δεν είμαι και πολύ μακριά απ'το να τους φτάσω οπότε ίσως πάρω πίσω ένα απ'αυτά τα αστεράκια!

Περίπου μια βδομάδα αργότερα, είδα το αστέρι να εμφανίζεται ξανά δίπλα στο όνομά μου. Όταν έκανα κλικ επάνω του με πήγε σε ένα διαφορετικό leaderboard. Αυτή τη φορά δεν είχε να κάνει με τα κέρδη, αλλά με το μέτρημα. Όταν λέω μέτρημα, εννοώ το πόσα παιχνίδια έχει παίξει κανείς, οπότε εκεί θα βρείτε τα άτομα που παίζουν πιο πολύ απ'όλους.

Είμαι 20ή, αλλά πλησιάζω τον 19ο. Κι αυτό είναι ένα σκορ που όσο περνάει ο καιρός τόσο περισσότερο μεγαλώνει, οπότε είναι πιθανό να βγω εκτός top 20 αν πάρω μερικές μέρες ρεπό ή κάτι τέτοιο. Αλλά απ'την άλλη, το πόσα παιχνίδια παίζεις είναι κάτι το οποίο ελέγχεις απόλυτα, οπότε σίγουρα θα παρακολουθώ το συγκεκριμένο leaderboard στο μέλλον.

Και για να κλείσω αυτό το post με ένα ακόμη ευχάριστο νέο, χτες είχα μια απίστευτα καλή μέρα. Δεν ήταν η καλύτερη που είχα ποτέ, αλλά πλησίασε τουλάχιστον από άποψη buy-ins. Νομίζω ότι το ρεκόρ μου είναι γύρω στα 96 buy-ins μέσα σε μια μέρα και χτες κέρδισα 83. Τέλεια, αν μπορούσα να είμαι τόσο τυχερή κάθε μέρα όσο ήμουν χτες, τότε δε θέλω τίποτα άλλο από την καριέρα μου στο πόκερ, χαχα!

February Overview

Hello everyone!

February was a very swingy month. I had more ups and downs than what you'd normally get on a roller coaster. As I described in a previous post, I also had my worst day ever. If we take that into consideration, I'm very happy with the fact that I managed to turn it around and finish the month with a bit of a profit.

I'm also pretty happy with the volume I put. So yeah, nothing too exciting happened at the tables during February overall (apart from the shock of that brutal downswing which was a lot of negative excitement accumulated). However, it was the month where it became public that I joined PokerStars Team Online, so I consider February as a great month, even though the monetary profit was small!

You may have noticed a little something next to my name in the screenshot above. And that brings me to my next subject... Sharkscope stars! As I was sharkscoping myself the other day to check I don't-remember-what, I saw it: a silver star next to my nickname! I clicked on it and saw with even bigger surprise that I had made it in the top 20 of the Profit 2014 leaderboard for the hypers between 37 and 100 dollars!

And not only I made it in the top 20, but I was at number #14 too! That was pretty cool! :) Unfortunately, I lost the star a couple of days later. The profit leaderboard is one that keeps growing as the people in it make more and more money. I had a couple of bad days, which took me out of the top 20. But still, it was a cool thing that I was there even shortly. That put the leaderboards in my radar and now I'm keeping track of what's happening. Even though I'm not among the top 20 anymore, I'm actually not that far behind so maybe I'll get one of those stars back!

About a week after that incident, I saw the star next to my name again. When I clicked on it, it took me to a different leaderboard. This time it wasn't the one about profit, but the one about count. Count is how many tournaments you've played, so that's where you'll find the people with the highest volume.

I'm 20th, but I'm closing in on the 19th. This is also the kind of score that will only grow as time goes by, so I could get out of the top 20 if I took some days off or something like that. But then again, how many tournaments you play is something that you have total control over so that's a leaderboard I'll definitely going to keep my eye on.

And to finish this post on another positive note, yesterday I had a pretty sick day. It was not my best day ever, but it came close in terms of buy-ins. I think my best record is around 96 buy-ins in a day and yesterday I won 83. Pretty awesome and if I could run every day like I did yesterday, then that's all I want from my poker career, lol!

Το πρώτο μου post στα ελληνικά!

Από τότε που ξεκίνησα να γράφω σε αυτό το blog, έγραφα πάντα στα αγγλικά. Σκέφτηκα ότι για ένα θέμα όπως το πόκερ που αφορά ένα συγκεκριμένο κομμάτι του πληθυσμού και όχι όλο τον κόσμο, θα είναι πολύ καλύτερο να μοιράζομαι τις εμπειρίες μου με όσο το δυνατόν περισσότερα άτομα γίνεται.

Με την πρόσφατη είσοδό μου στην PokerStars Team Online όμως, αποφάσισα ν'αρχίσω να γράφω και στα ελληνικά. Εντάξει, είμαστε γλωσσομαθείς εμείς οι Έλληνες όμως δεν μιλάνε όλοι το ίδιο καλά αγγλικά, ή ακόμα κι αν μιλάνε σίγουρα είναι πιο ξεκούραστο να διαβάζεις κάτι στη γλώσσα σου. Και σε τελική ανάλυση, καλές οι ξένες γλώσσες αλλά καμιά φορά είναι αλλιώς να το πεις στα ελληνικά βρε αδερφέ!

Το υπέρτατο σχέδιό μου λοιπόν για την κατάκτηση του κόσμου  να γράφω και στις δύο γλώσσες, είναι να δημιουργήσω μια σελίδα η οποία θα έχει αποκλειστικά άρθρα στα ελληνικά. Μέχρι όμως να αποφασίσω που και πως θα φτιαχτεί αυτή η σελίδα, θα ανεβάζω όλα μου τα post εδώ. Σε γενικές γραμμές ότι γράφω στα αγγλικά θα το μεταφέρω και στα ελληνικά. Έτσι όλοι όσοι ακολουθούν το blog μου θα διαβάζουν το ίδιο περιεχόμενο ανεξάρτητα με το ποια είναι η γλώσσα στην οποία έχει γραφτεί.

Blogging στα ελληνικά!

Hello!

If you did not fully understand the title of this post (Blogging in greek), that means that you don't speak greek. And that's fine, I just wanted to give you a little heads-up.

Since my recent addition to PokerStars Team Online, I've decided to start blogging in greek. Don't worry, I'm obviously not switching from one language to the other. I know that a lot of the people that have been following this blog are not from Greece and would like to keep reading my posts in english. But at the same time, I feel like I should start writing in my native language too and hopefully reach out to more people from my home country.

So my master plan for conquering the world blogging in both languages is to ultimately have a page that will be exclusive for greek posts. However, until I figure out the logistics of it (where and how I'm going to do it) I will be putting up posts in both languages here. I will post in english first, and then re-write the post in greek. That way, everyone will read the same content regardless of what language it's in. So for now I'll ask you to bare with me and ignore any posts you see in greek. It will be something you have read already.
